I’ve tried this before- created a couple of blogs that never really went anywhere. This time is different? I think so, at least I have more reason to do this blog.

Background: I’ve made photographs for many years starting as  teenager, but for fun initially and for stress relief later. Educated as a physician, have worked in academics x many years taking care of patients, teaching, research and various administrative roles.

Current State: about to turn 60 and thinking about what to do next, have planned on retiring at 65 and pursuing photography full time. Now have started my own LLC, starting to exhibit and sell prints slowly, sort of easing into this work. I have lots to figure out about what I want and I have ideas and images to share.

Goal: use this blog and the thinking going into it to figure out my next steps. At least that’s the idea, but I am flexible.

A note about the header image: taken in Iceland last year around midnight a few miles down a dirt road off Iceland’s Ring Road, way up in the NW part of the island where it is especially quiet. I was feeling at peace and happy to make this photograph- I saw what I liked, jumped out of the car with camera and tripod and had what I wanted in just a couple of shots. This was especially gratifying after spending the day driving around northern Iceland getting a damaged wheel on my rented 4×4 fixed.  I cracked it on rocks traveling in the interior- tire deflated but not punctured, rim cracked and needed special aluminum welding. Traveled to two garages to find someone who could help me, the people I met were kind and extremely helpful to this dumb foreigner.
